Sarah Elizabeth Cox

Festival Manager / Event Host

Sarah Elizabeth Cox runs the press office for pregnancy charity Tommy’s by day, and by night is a historian of late-Victorian wrestling and boxing, currently working as an advisor on new Disney+ drama A Thousand Blows. She has more than 20 years combined experience in hospitality, event management and promotion, and PR.

Jasmine Elmer

Event Host

Jasmine Elmer is a media personality working in the field of Classics. She is the host of the podcast ‘Legit Classics’ with Hat trick Productions, and recently appeared in Channel 4’s ‘Lost treasures of Rome’. Improving accessibility to Classics remains at the heart of everything she does, as she aims to ‘take classics to where the people are’ by reframing how we look at the ancient world.

Shafi Musaddique

Event Host

Shafi Musaddique is a freelance journalist. After spending much of his life in London, he now lives in Tallinn, Estonia, from where he is reporting on the vast and rapid changes happening across both the Baltics and Scandinavia. Shafi has previously worked for the BBC World Service, CNBC and The Economist, among others. His interests include border and frontier cultures and shifting identities.

Rebecca Rideal

Festival Director

Rebecca is a historian, award-winning podcast and TV producer, and author of 1666: Plague, War and Hellfire. She founded HistFest in 2018 to offer history buffs something different – modern history events and digital content that reflect current historical research and understanding. Drawing from the past, to inspire the future.

Izzy Wilson

Assistant Festival Manager

In between Histfests, Izzy is an Assistant Producer of documentaries and podcasts. She loves exploring modern histories of gender and nationality which she became fascinated in during her Cultural History MA. To her, shining a light on the parts of the past we’ve ignored is what history’s all about.
