Young Historians: The Big Questions

14:00 – 15:30

Friday 3rd April

Should modern history be the main focus of what is taught in schools? When trying to understand the present, do we really need to study anything before 1900? Is ancient, medieval and early modern history just a waste of time? HistFest invites sixth form students to attend a special panel debate created exclusively for young historians. Come and hear three leading academics argue the case for their period and interrogate the role history plays in the present. This special event provides a space for you to share your views on what is taught in schools and meet other historians your age.

Places are free, and open to sixth form students aged 16-18
