Halloween Fright Night

HALLOWEEN FRIGHT NIGHT

7pm (GMT), Monday 31 October

ONLINE ONLY

This Halloween, join HistFest for an evening of ghost stories and witches as we turn back the clock to 1690 to tell M R James’s haunting story The Ash-Tree. Before conjuring an expert panel of speakers to lift the veil on the history of ghost stories, witches and creepy relics.

The reading of M R James’s The Ash-Tree features an all-star line-up including Janina Ramirez, Sunny Singh, Suzannah Lipscomb, Matthew Sweet, the Ravenmaster himself – Chis Skaife, Mai Musie, Catherine Johnson, Sarah Elizabeth Cox, Shafi Musaddique and Richard Herring, to name just a few!

Our live panel discussion draws upon the expertise of archaeology historian Dr Amara Thornton, whose latest book is Strange Relics: Stories of Archaeology and the Supernatural; historian of ghosts and all things weird, Marc Hartzmann, whose latest book is Chasing Ghosts: A Tour of Our Fascination with Spirits and the Supernatural; and Dr Mai Musié a classicist and expert in the Greek mythology, including the stories of witches, ghosts and necromancy.
